The oceans had swallowed the coastlines years ago. Now, they lapped at the edges of inland cities, and the once bustling streets were empty. Kyle looked out from the rooftop where his family now lived. The water was rising. Every day, a little higher. His son asked him if they would ever swim in the sea like in the old stories, but Kyle knew the truth. Soon, they would be swimming whether they wanted to or not.
