The city had long since turned into a wasteland of concrete and glass. But deep in the heart of the ruins stood the last tree. Mia knelt beside it, her fingers tracing its bark. Her grandmother had told her stories of forests, but Mia had never seen one. The air was thick with smog, the skies always gray. She closed her eyes and imagined a world where green still thrived. But when she opened them, all that remained was dust.
