War Child

Silent tears fall on barren ground,

Where laughter once did sweetly sound.

Small shadows huddle, cold and scared,

Their childhood innocence impaired.

Guns and bombs replace their toys,

Stealing dreams from girls and boys.

Hunger gnaws and fear runs deep,

As little ones struggle to sleep.

Yet hope still flickers, faint but true,

For peace to bloom and skies turn blue.

A world where children freely play,

And war's dark clouds have blown away.

Let wisdom guide our hearts and hands,

To build a bridge 'tween warring lands.

For in each child, the future lies -

A better world, if we are wise.
