  • Childish Gambino - Feels Like Summer

“Every day gets hotter than the one before

Running out of water, it's about to go down

Go down

Air that kill the bees that we depend upon

Birds were made for singing, wakin' up to no sound

No sound”

Childish Gambino’s ‘Feels Like Summer’ highlights the impacts climate change inflicts on various species on earth, also pinpointing our society that tends to drift away from the significant issues for minor ones such as celebrity gossip. The music video highlights an insane array of celebrities, from Rihanna to Nicki Minaj. Some view this as Gambino’s deliberate attempt to juxtapose the extravagant celebrity life with climate change, illustrating our nature to stray away from the issues that matter distracted by the minor ones. The song received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

  • Earth - Lil Dicky

We love the Earth, it is our planet

We love the Earth, it is our home

We love the Earth, it is our planet

We love the Earth, it is our home

Listening to the track, you will recognize some very familiar voices - Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Hart. These are the names of only a few of the numerous voices featured in the song ‘Earth’ by Lil Dicky. Lil Dicky’s charity single ‘Earth’ was released three days before earth day, and donated all the revenues generated to the Leonardo Dicaprio foundation. Lil Dicky expressed his hopes to raise awareness around saving the Earth and encourage more people to take action against climate change.

  • All the Good Girls go to Hell - Billie Eilish

Hills burn in California

My turn to ignore ya

Don't say I didn't warn ya

Man is such a fool

Why are we saving him?

Poisoning themselves now

Begging for our help, wow!

All the Good Girls go to Hell is the 5th track in Billie Eilish’s first album, ‘WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?’. Billie Eilish’s heavenly voice combined with the chilly funky tune provides a pleasure for the listeners, juxtaposed with the biblical allusion expressed throughout the lyrics. ‘Hills burn in California’ refers to the 2018 California Wildfire, which was the deadliest, most destructive wildfire season in recorded world history. The fire caused more than 26.437 billion dollars of damage, the costliest out of all the previous fires that occurred. 24,226 structures were destroyed, and 8,527 fires burned 1,975,086 acres, nearly 2% of the state's 100 million acres of land. Her lyrics alarm the audience of the imminent perils of climate change, and that no savior will stand at the end to rescue us from the earth we have destroyed ourselves.
